Join us as a member

We have 40 to 50 members who range in age from 28 to 85, about half of whom are either in full or part-time work.  We welcome new members. There are no restrictions, everyone is welcome. All we ask from our new members is that you want to put something back into the community, to make a difference to those in need at home and overseas, and to make new friends.

Joining Winchester Rotary

Initially you come to a few meetings to meet other Rotarians and to ensure that you get a good idea of how we operate and who we are so that you can feel at home within the club.  There is then a meeting organised by the membership committee (in advance of this you will have given us a brief summary of you, your family and career). This meeting is largely to provide you with information about Rotary, answer your questions and see which activities you would be most interested in.  Your application will then be agreed by the membership. In all, the process generally takes around a couple of months.

Costs

There is a cost involved in being a member of Rotary. You should expect to pay about £55 per month to cover the cost of your annual subscription and attending, say, two meetings a month from a range of breakfast and evening meetings. This covers the basic meetings – there will be additional costs for other and social events. There is no joining fee. You may also want to get involved in twinning visits with our twin clubs based in France, Germany and India (any more?).

Involvement

Once you have joined, your involvement will be through working in one-off project teams or committees, and social and sporting groups. These report to an executive of six directors meeting as needed. The executive reports to Council which meets up to four times a year for necessary formalities and major decisions.

For further inofrmation, please email membership@winchester-rotary.org or, better, speak to any member of Winchester Rotary you may know who will be very pleased to provide more information.
