Our first breakfast meeting of 2025 took place on Wednesday 22 January at the Wessex Mercure Hotel.
Our guest Marcus Roe, founded cafe/bar Cabinet Rooms in Jewry Street, with his partner Gary.
The cafe is directly opposite the Theatre Royal, and hosts a variety of events, including book groups and film nights. Marcus described how it has developed from small beginnings out of what was the Art Cafe. The venue has been transformed into a sophisticated, yet friendly meeting place. The cakes served are particularly popular!
Upcoming club events were discussed – particularly the Pancake Races on Shrove Tuesday, 4 March at the Cathedral. The date of the February breakfast will be a week earlier as a one-off, on 12 February at Bar Lento in Southgate Street – usual time and cost – but with a Spanish twist! Come along for something different…
