Breakfast Meeting – Wednesday 19 November

Things didn’t start well this month – sadly our booked speaker, Beth Flint (City of Sanctuary) had to cancel at short notice, due to family illness. But she hopes to join us early next year.

However, Paul and I recalled our extremely interesting visit to the Royal Logistics Corps Museum at Worthy Down a few months ago, as part of Winchester Open Days. The Museum Director, Major (Retd) Simon Walmsley, had been an excellent and entertaining guide. He stepped in at very short notice and gave a very interesting presentation on how the Museum has developed over the years, detailing some of the trials and tribulations involved in the management of a military museum.

The Museum is free to enter and tours are available. There is a strong possibility that a Rotary visit may be made…..

Following brief reports – Reverse Santa, our Christmas dinner meeting on 15 November – and yes, you heard it here first – the Pancake Races – Chair Rob Carter reminded everyone that the traditional Christmas breakfast meeting is a week earlier this year – on Wednesday 10 December. Featuring the festive quiz – and hopefully Christmas jumbers! Sign up on the website in the usual way.
