Car Boot Sale 28 August

We were approached by the City Council with the opportunity to collect the fees for an extra Car Boot Sale. Thanks to Nick Bell, Dave Stewart, Andy Taylor and Simon Salter we were able to assemble on Sunday 28 August at 8am.

After some light refreshment for Simon – a bacon butty – we donned our tabards and set to work. The tabards may make us look like ‘workers’ but there is no shame in that. Being bright orange they are very useful for finding your team when you have stashed the notes in your car and they have completely disappeared on your return!

After a final coffee in the sun, we were “done and dusted” by 9.15am with £488 raised. As it was so close, I made it up to a nice round £500.

At 12.15 Paul Russell and Julian English arrived with litter pickers, black sacks and a bright pink dustpan and brush to tidy the site. Apparently Julian was so keen he collected extra cans for another charity. If you haven’t used litter pickers before you should try it. They are so good you can even pick up cigarette buts without touching them.
