On Sunday 2nd August, 11 of us treated Thomas, our University Scholar from Uganda, to dinner at the Bangkok Bistro. We even managed to time it so that we enjoyed a visit from Miff, the Rotarian owner, who popped in to offer his congratulations to Thomas.
We were celebrating the fact that Thomas had managed to achieve a first-class honours standard in his assignments in the second year of his computer studies degree course at Winchester University where we are supporting him. He achieved an average mark of 84%, which is well within the band for a First-Class Honours degree.
We would like to thank our Honorary Member, Sam Jones, for his efforts in persuading the university to support this reduced fee scholarship. Our thanks also to Southampton Magna Rotary who have regularly helped us each year to support Thomas, including one of their members who has accessed Trust funds to help with the cost.
Well done Thomas!
