Garden Party for Scholarship Scheme with Winchester University

On Sunday 23 July, 55 adults (36 Rotarians/ partners and 19 non-Rotarians) – and 5 children – attended a garden party at Crowded House in Kings Worthy.   This was a fundraising event for the scholarship project recently established with Winchester University, of which Thomas Bwambale will be the first beneficiary.  The funds raised were as follows: £1100 plus Gift Aid of £275,  plus raffle proceeds of £160, amounting to a total of £1,535.00

Guests were entertained by guitarist Jacob Addison (brother of Luke) and a delicious buffet was provided by chefs Graham and Tristan Perrin.

Thomas has now received his CAS reference number from the Uni which is final approval he is a genuine student and he is now in the hands of the Home Office. Term starts 11 September and his hoped-for arrival date is 21 August.

Total funds raised to date: £9,000 approx – the amount needed for academic year 23/24 = £11,000 approx.

The sun shone and a very pleasant afternoon was enjoyed by all.
