74 people attended the Murder Mystery Evening at Twyford Parish Hall, organised by Winchester Rotarian, Nick Bell. Our guests included District Governor Debbie Dunford and her partner, District Governor Elect Richard Burnett and his partner, Rotarians and their friends from many local clubs, together with a team from the Twyford Community.
The evening began with a humorous and informative presentation from Louise Pears, a Director of Youth Options – Street Reach Winchester is part of this charitable organisation which is Winchester Rotary’s Charity of the Year. Funds raised by this event were to support the Friday Football Project – the purpose of the project is to help vulnerable young people have a focus and to realise their potential.
Nick then introduced the Murder Mystery play – “Boomer TV” performed by the Geriactors. A character was mysteriously murdered during the launch of a new community TV station. Our task as the audience was to guess “who dunnit.”
In between the the three act play, supper was prepared and promptly served with a smile by Perrins Catering waitresses.
The play , written and produced by Ronni Davis, a member and Past President of Winchester Inner Wheel, was full of humour and banter amongst the very professional cast.
The audience enjoyed an after dinner table quiz to guess ‘who dunnit”. three teams guessed correctly so there was a play off for the prize of several bottles of wine, won by Table 6.
The evening raised just over £900. This will be added to the other monies Winchester Rotary has raised this year for Street Reach; which will be presented to them in July.
May we thank the Geriactors who gave so generously of their rehearsal and performance time to support our Winchester Rotary Charity of the Year. Our thanks also to Perrins Catering for providing the food, the waitresses for their low cost services. Thanks also to those who gave raffle prizes for a very successful raffle and finally to everyone who helped with the setting up and closing down of the hall.
Nick Bell
