Paul Harris Fellowship: Simon Salter

At the end of the business section of our meeting on 11 July, we were delighted to honour Simon Salter with the award of a Paul Harris Fellowship.  Simon has been a member of Winchester Rotary for five years, while working at IBM Hursley, on secondment from his home country of Australia.  Introduced to Rotary by his IBM colleague Mark Butcher, Simon has made a number of important improvements to our club website, managing the registration process for our meetings, organising and overseeing meal arrangements and during the Covid lockdowns ensuring that meetings continued on Zoom and facilitating “hybrid” meetings as restrictions eased.

He also ran the Young Musician competition and in 2021 organised the marshalling of the Clarendon Marathon.  He has made a huge impact on our club, with good humour and “unflappability”!  His UK contract ends in the autumn and he and his family will then be returning to Australia. We hope that he will continue to enjoy Rotary “Down Under”.  The citation, read by Mark Butcher, can be seen by clicking on the PHF symbol below.

Thank you, Simon – you’ll be missed.
