Purple4Polio crocuses flowering

Last October, on World Polio Day, we planted more crocuses around the base of the King Alfred statue, to add to those first planted in 2020. We are delighted to see that they are flowering well – and this time a much brighter purple!

We now have a number of sites around the city – as we were also able to plant in “Paradise” (the small graveyard behind the Cathedral) and on a flowerbed in Abbey Gardens.

A selection of photos from the sites can be seen here. It is especially important to raise awareness of the importance of polio vaccination at the present time and we hope that our efforts add to this.
