Return to Kingsworthy Primary School

During our very successful disease resistant Elm tree planting at Kingsworthy Primary School just a couple of weeks ago, we were made aware of a potential site for a larger tree to the front of the school by the caretaker, Chris Carr.

We have subsequently been having some challenges with our planned planting at Winchester Cathedral, given everything has to be agreed with Historic England. This has resulted in us having a few spare saplings, and hence we decided to donate one of them to the school in Kingsworthy.

Our team of Dave Stewart, Dominic Hiscock, Peter Dingley and Mark Butcher, along with Chris and Eric from the school team successfully planted our tallest Elm so far – At least 4M tall on Wednesday, February 19th. This proved to be very handily bang in the middle of half-term when we could park where we liked.

We still have planting at Twyford Watermeadows to come, which has had to be rearranged due to the need to remove dying Ash trees, plus at the Cathedral.

As a result of working with Deputy Mayor of Winchester, Sudhakar Achwal, Dave and Mark are visiting the Cornerstone Primary School in Whiteley on Monday, February 24th to see if their site is suitable for the spare saplings that we now have.
