Sanctuary Concert at Theatre Royal

An audience of over 300 enjoyed a fantastic free concert on Saturday 10 June at the Theatre Royal.  Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council enabled the event in collaboration with Play to the Crowd (Theatre Royal) – featuring the refugee community in our city.  The Ukrainian singers, dancers and musicians wowed the audience! It had been expected that representatives of other communities would participate, but circumstances outside their control prevented this.

Chesil Theatre’s Peter Liddiard compered the event and produced the show in collaboration with the performers and theatre staff.

Winchester Rotary UK was pleased to help by meeting the printing costs associated with the event and providing a team of stewards (led by Nick Bell) to collect donations at the end.   We are delighted to report that a total of £1,472.20 was collected to support the work of SWVG (Southampton and Winchester Visitors Group) who work closely with Winchester City of Sanctuary.
