Skittles Match for the Funnelle Cup

Nick Bell writes:

On Monday 26th February 27 enthusiastic and competitive members of the Rotary Family gathered at the Winchester Centre in Worthy Lane for the three way match between Rotary, Inner Wheel and Rotaract for the Funnelle Cup which was first presented about 20 years ago by a former Rotarian and his late wife who was a keen member of Inner Wheel.

The atmosphere was palpable and expectations high, especially within Rotary, the present holders, to such an extent that they managed to gather enough members for two teams in the hope that they could retain the trophy. After a hard fought battle lasting three rounds it was obvious  thatRotaract were the clear winners! Members of Rotary and Inner Wheel consoled themselves by saying that of course they had youth, strength and energy on their side! Nevertheless a clear victory and one of which President Thomas should be proud, especially as neither he nor two of the other members of the team had ever seen a skittle alley before -let alone played the game!! They are clearly expecting a return next year as they practiced on the alley after the main competition .

A really good networking evening as well as an enjoyable social event with great tasty food provided by the venue and drinks at very reasonable prices. I am sure we will be back -so look after that trophy Thomas -Rotary and Inner Wheel will try again next year!!
