“Tea for Tools”

For many years, along with a number of clubs in our District,  we have supported the fantastic charity Tools for Self Reliance (TFSR), based at Netley Marsh, near Totton.  Our Past President David Farthing is a great advocate for their work, refurbishing donated tools and equipment for onward supply to a number of African countries.

Each year an afternoon of “Tea for Tools” is held at their premises, where visitors can purchase refurbished items unsuitable for shipment.  Tea and cake are in plentiful supply!

This year’s event took place on Saturday 13 August, and a group of us went along.  Thomas Bwambale, from Kasese, Uganda, who we are supporting as a volunteer intern at TFSR was with us and showed President Deborah some of the work. David is arranging a club visit to TFSR to see the workshops later this year.

We have since learnt that £2,226 was raised from the sales of tools, tea and cakes!
