Skittles is a little like marmite, and bowling a wooden ball at wooden pegs isn’t everyone’s bag, but the event organised by Nick Bell at the Winchester Club was really good fun!
Energetic and enthusiastic teams from Inner Wheel, Rotaract and Rotary played four demanding rounds with scores recorded so close that the excitement and tension increased throughout the evening.
The prize was the Funnelle Cup and the challenge was to remove it from the tight grip of the young Rotaractors, the winners in recent years. And by a hair’s breadth, the Rotary Team pulled it off.
So President Elect Mark Butcher was presented with the sparkling trophy and doubtless will take pride of place in his study at home.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening, a good supper – but almost more importantly a wonderful opportunity for much chat and laughter by everyone present.
