Tools for Self Reliance – Update

Some members may not be aware that we have been supporting TFSR for almost 40 years and continue to do so in various ways. It is an impressive charity which collects and refurbishes used tools and sewing machines in their workshop at Netley Marsh; they then send them on to their partners in seven African countries. The input does not finish there as they visit regularly to meet with their partners to provide guidance on running and developing projects.

Whilst we support TFSR financially, our primary role is to act as an area collecting point for used tools and sewing machines. David Pollard and David Farthing are always pleased to hear from people with suitable items to donate.

In the photograph, TFSR volunteer, Nicky, at Netley Marsh, is receiving 2 sewing machines which were donated by the Dean of Winchester Cathedral, Catherine Ogle, a keen seamstress.
