Winchester Talking Newspaper AGM May 2025

The 33rd AGM of Winchester Talking Newspaper (WTN) was held at Littleton Memorial Hall on 8th May 2025. WTN was founded in 1999 due to the inspiration of Rotarian Martin Fayers who was himself losing his sight.

The charity now has 90 volunteers of all ages and walks of life who, between them, weekly record extracts from the Hampshire Chronicle, keeping listeners up to date with local events around Hampshire.

These are put onto memory sticks which are delivered free of charge to people locally who are totally blind or visually impaired. They are also provided with an easy to use player. A monthly magazine of general interest is also recorded and distributed. Return postage is also free. The cost of producing these recording is covered by fundraising and donations.

Several Winchester Rotarians are among those who volunteer at WTN.

Hampshire Chronicle Editor Kimberley Barber and reporter Jodie Kelly were present at the AGM (the Chronicle kindly provides space at its offices for the weekly recordings to be made). Their report can be read by clicking here.
