Dinner speaker meeting

Event details

Dr. Brian Klaas
Dr Klaas is Associate Professor in Global Politics, University College London. He is known to some of our members as he is a Cathedral volunteer. Brian is often asked for his opinion on USA politics by the BBC Radio 4 breakfast programme Today.

Brian will draw on chaos theory to explore how our world really works, driven by strange interactions and random events. How much difference does our decision to hit the snooze button make? Did one couple’s vacation really change the course of the twentieth century? What are the smallest accidents that have tilted the course of history itself? And what lessons can we learn from a world that is often swayed by the accidental and the arbitrary?

His new book, Fluke, is a provocative new vision of how our world really works – and why apparently random events can change everything.

Meal cost £25.

Main course choices:

Slow cooked belly of pork, herb roasted potatoes, apple puree (GF)

Spice roasted cauliflower steak, roasted red pepper and tomato sauce, herb roasted potatoes (GF, VG)

Dessert choices:

Sticky toffee pudding, toffee sauce, vanilla ice cream
