Double the use of buses in Hampshire by 2035 is the aim of the Hampshire Bus Service Improvement Programme. This open meeting will focus on how to do it.
Saturday 4 July 2026, 10.00 refreshments and networking, 10.30 – 12.00 meeting at St Lawrence Parish Room, Colebrook Street, Winchester SO23 9LH. Free. All welcome, whether you are from Winchester or beyond.
Speakers offer different perspectives – from bus campaigners to transport officers. Plus time to explore which changes will make the biggest difference, and generate new ideas.
Lower fares will get more people on to buses. We want to explore radical ideas of other ways of filling buses, such as revising the bus network so it meets a greater range of needs and improving connections to make journeys easier.
We welcome passengers, potential passengers, people who provide bus services, local authority staff and members, and anybody else with an interest in buses to join us to consider ideas, take part in the discussion and explore which changes would make the most difference.
What are your priorities:
- Better connections between buses and trains, and between bus routes?
- Fast buses on major routes, or bus routes that provide access from anywhere people live to anywhere they want to go – workplaces, health care, schools, shops, leisure?
- Better bus timetables, better buses, better bus stops or better information about routes – and cancellations?
- Fares and travelcards that cover your whole journey?
- Up-to-date news when buses are late or cancelled?
