Event details
Details provided by Alison Talbot (CPRE) and Rachel Remnant
We are approaching our next hay making window Fri 25th July – Fri 1st August.
Due to the drought and heatwaves, meadow seed is maturing two weeks earlier than usual. Therefore the plan is to harvest wildflower, grass seed and transfer green hay during this period too. We will take a flexible approach as the weather will be a key part of the planning and we can’t be certain about that yet.
Please sign up to the sessions you are able to attend . The link to the sign up sheet is here Provisional Meadow Programme Friday 25th July.docx
If this link doesn’t work for you please just email us details of the sessions you can attend.
There is just 1 session on this day, which includes scything, but also raking up which does not require prior training:
- 8am – 4pm: Provisional green hay scythe mowing & rake up. Then strewing across various sites
We will be working on a different section of Cowslip Meadow
Meeting location: St Catherine’s Park & Ride toilet block https://maps.app.goo.gl/
What3Words: ///unclaimed.dust.paler
Parking: St Catherine’s Park & Ride – will need to pay for parking on app (no cash taken) Ring-go code 2547
What to bring: Leather gloves, safety glasses, drink, snacks, long sleeved shirts, closed toe shoes and your own scythe by arrangement with Rachel (if you have one)
If you could just click on the link to the Provisional Meadow Programme above the table and sign up which sessions you can attend that would be great.
Looking forward to seeing many of you soon.
Best wishes
Alison & Rachel
