Work with communities

One of our many important priorities is to provide support for disadvantaged individuals, groups and neighbourhoods in the Winchester area.

We operate through a series of local projects which, in recent years, have included the Moorside Reminiscence Cafe, Christ Church Stroke Support Club and the adult Hospice at Home scheme.

Our role ranges from the provision of small grants to supporting organisations with direct management and offers of technical expertise for charities and social enterprises that have specific shortfalls or deficits in respect of new community service ventures. Recent examples have included pump priming assistance for a local jobs club, a community centre sensory room and food pantry, and alternative parent counselling initiatives. Increasingly our role is in promoting local agency partnerships and strengthening relationships at suburban levels.

Our Community Services Committee is responsible for recommending and arranging Rotary support based on regular needs analysis and local feedback. The committee meets six times a year and presents an annual showcase event reviewing its work for interested parties.
